Field Notes - A beautiful but tattered and battered Live Oak tree on Escambia Bay, FL in Pensacola shows the battle scars from two successive hurricanes in two years. First, Hurricane Ivan hit in 2004 and then Hurricane Dennis in 2005. Both storms did some serious pruning to this majestic and proud tree and in the end, this massive old tree survived. The calm of this beautiful sunrise belies the furor of the two storms.
